RecentT3CHNRD, this is actually a really cool story because it captures that “holy crap this might actually work” energy that every IT person knows 😂 For most people, these pictures probably don’t look like much. But for me, they represent the culmination of about 3 months of work. Over the last few months, I’ve been building an enhanced NUT server from the ground up. For those unfamiliar, NUT (Network UPS Tools) is a system that allows servers, network equipment, and infrastructure to communicate with battery backups/UPS devices so systems can safely shut down during power outages instead of just hard crashing. What started as “let’s see if I can make this work” turned into building: * A full UI/dashboard * One-click backup functionality * One-click restore from GitHub * Real and simulated testing modes * Automated shutdown orchestration for both physical hosts and virtual machines Tonight was the big test. My coworker and I ran a full 3-phase shutdown test across our environment. Phase 1: Tested shutdown of non-essential systems only. ✅ Passed. Phase 2: Tested whether systems would abort shutdown procedures if power was restored within a designated timeframe. First run: ❌ Failed. After some tweaks and adjustments: Second run: ✅ Passed. Phase 3: Full network and infrastructure shutdown test. Out of 41 assets: ✅ 10 passed ❌ 31 failed And honestly? I’m still calling this a win. This is the first time I’ve ever built something this complex. Coordinating shutdown order between physical hosts, virtual machines, dependent services, and infrastructure layers is WAY more complicated than it sounds. Some systems have to go down first, others absolutely cannot, and one wrong sequence can break the entire chain. But that’s also the fun part. Tonight proved the concept works. Now it’s refinement, troubleshooting, and iteration. All of that to say: Never be afraid to take on something you’ve never done before. Sometimes you surprise yourself and build something that actually works. And sometimes even a partial success is a massive step forward.

RecentSomewhere along the way, I developed a habit that some might find strange — but I've come to see it as one of the smartest things I do. See this box? It has everything in it — from the utensils I use to eat lunch, to the sleeve that holds my keyboard. Everything I touch on a daily basis, packed and ready to go. Not because I'm looking for the exit. Not because I'm unhappy. But because I've lived through enough professional uncertainty — both personally and watching what's unfolding across industries right now — to understand that preparedness isn't pessimism. It's self-respect. The last several years have reshaped how a lot of us think about job security. Layoffs that seemed unthinkable are now routine headlines. And if you've ever worked somewhere that made big promises about culture and belonging — right up until the day they didn't — you know exactly the kind of sting I'm talking about. For me, keeping that box ready isn't about fear. It's about having already made peace with the unpredictable nature of work — so that my energy can stay focused on doing great work, building real relationships, and showing up fully, every single day. There's something quietly empowering about knowing you're prepared. It frees you from anxiety. It lets you invest in your current role without clinging to it. And it's a small but meaningful reminder that your value was never stored in a desk drawer to begin with. The job market has changed. The way we protect our peace has to change with it. Anyone else out there quietly building their own version of the box? 👇 #CareerGrowth #WorkplaceWellness #ProfessionalDevelopment #MindsetMatters #CareerAdvice

RecentSpent some time updating my projects portfolio page over at theveddersfamily.com with a bunch of the things I’ve been building lately. Some of them are further along than others… and if I’m being honest, there’s a very real reason for that 😂 I have what I call “vibe code ADHD.” I’ll be deep into building one platform and suddenly another idea hits me, and I HAVE to at least prototype it before the idea disappears into the void forever. So now the projects page is this weird mix of: fully thought-out platforms half-built experiments infrastructure tools SaaS concepts automation systems “this sounded cool at 2am” ideas Current highlights include: • CLAIMSCOUT — an automated opportunity discovery platform for settlements, expiring domains, and unclaimed funds • NUTserver — a self-sustaining UPS monitoring and power management platform • Runbook Project — turning operational documentation into executable workflows • T3CHNRD’s Windows Toolkit — an all-in-one Windows maintenance and repair utility That said, progress has been a little slower lately because I’m currently juggling two jobs, so coding has unfortunately taken a bit of a back burner recently. Still building though. Always building. Also — huge shoutout to my wife Julia Vedders and her site JVed Creations ( https://jvedcreations.com/ ). She’s been creating some really awesome stuff and I’d love for people to check it out. #Technology #Coding #DevOps #SaaS #Automation #IT #Homelab #PowerShell #Django #SideProjects #BuildInPublic #SoftwareDevelopment #TechLife
Read on LinkedInThe AI Secret: It’s All About a Friendly Start ☕✨
RecentThe AI Secret: It’s All About a Friendly Start ☕✨ I’ve spent 15 years in the tech trenches, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the best technology is the kind that actually feels approachable. For a while now, I’ve had a vision: creating a dedicated space for AI beginners—those who are just starting to explore what chatbots can do but feel overwhelmed by the "tech-speak" and complex interfaces. I wanted to build a "sandbox" where the barrier to entry was zero. I’m excited to share that this vision is now live at friendly.smallstack.site. What is Friendly Smallstack? Think of it as the "shallow end" of the AI pool. It’s a clean, no-fuss interface where you can interact with powerful AI prompts without needing a degree in prompt engineering. We’ve curated a collection of basic, foundational prompts to help you get started and actually see results when using different chatbots. It’s all about giving you a solid jumping-off point. The "Engine" Under the Hood: Django Small Stacks This project is a proud collaboration between myself and Everett Michaud. While the concept for an AI-entry point was mine, the technical heavy lifting was done using Everett’s innovative new project, Django Small Stacks. The coolest part? This site was vibe-coded using Django Small Stacks and Claude in just 12.5 minutes. Everett and I were simply having breakfast, and he was demoing exactly what Small Stacks can do. By the time the coffee was gone, the site was real. If you’re a developer or a tech enthusiast, you really need to see the speed and efficiency of this framework: The Project: django-small-stack.space The Code: https://lnkd.in/gGmfYkfw Whether you’re a business owner looking to see how AI can streamline your day or a developer looking for a leaner way to build, we’ve created this to show what's possible when the tools get out of the way. Give it a look and let me know your thoughts in the comments! hashtag#AI hashtag#VibeCoding hashtag#DjangoSmallStacks hashtag#TechCollaboration hashtag#AIBeginners hashtag#Innov
Read on LinkedInUpload Resume. Retype Resume. Get Ghosted.
RecentLet’s have an honest conversation about the current state of the job application process. As someone who was actively navigating the market, I have a genuine question for the hiring managers, recruiters, and TA professionals out there: Aside from systems just being outdated or teams being overwhelmed, what is the actual logic behind some of these modern hiring practices? • The Endless Loop: Why are companies leaving job postings up for 30+ days, only to let them expire and repost them two or three times without actually making a hire? Are these "ghost jobs," or is the internal process really that disconnected? • The Data Entry Trap: Why are applicant tracking systems still requiring us to upload a perfectly formatted resume, only to force us to manually retype our entire work history on the very next page? • The Ghosting: Why has complete silence become the industry standard? Job seekers spend hours tailoring their applications. Taking a few seconds to send an automated "we are moving forward with other candidates" email—or just letting us know where we stand—should be the bare minimum. It often feels like a mix of broken software and a lack of consideration for a candidate's time. Job seekers are putting in the effort to present their best selves; a little transparency and a streamlined process would go a long way. I'd love to hear from people on the other side of the desk. Are we dealing with broken systems, corporate red tape, or something else entirely?

Read on LinkedInFrom Parked Domain to Professional Launch: Introducing theveddersfamily.com 🚀
RecentI’m a big believer that technology should serve a clear purpose—whether it’s streamlining a workflow or simply giving a family’s creative work a professional home. For a few years now, I’ve had a domain sitting in the "someday" pile. I’m excited to share that "someday" is finally today. I’ve officially launched [theveddersfamily.com](https://theveddersfamily.com/). Why this site? In the digital noise, it’s easy for great work to get lost in the shuffle. I wanted to build a centralized, professional space to showcase what we’re building together: The Portfolio: A dedicated hub for my latest technical projects and development work. The Collaboration: A space to highlight Julia Vedders ( my wife ) work and our various joint ventures. The "Home Base": A clean, unified front for our professional identities and the various projects we’re passionate about. The Tech Behind the Launch 🛠️ Continuing the momentum from my recent "vibe-coding" session with **Everett Michaud**, this site is another testament to the power of the **Django Small Stacks** framework. It’s about efficiency: taking an idea from a parked domain to a fully functional, professional platform in record time. When you use the right tools, you stop fighting the software and start sharing the vision. Whether you’re stopping by to see my latest tech updates or checking out the creative projects Julia and I have in the works, I’d love for you to take a look. **Explore the new hub here:** [theveddersfamily.com](https://theveddersfamily.com/) It’s been a long time coming, and I’m looking forward to using this space to keep my professional network updated on everything we’re building. #WebDevelopment #ProfessionalBranding #DjangoSmallStacks #VibeCoding #Entrepreneurship #TechHub #PortfolioLaunch #T3CHNRD #Innovation

RecentI’ve always admired my wife Julia’s drive, but watching her build her first business, JVED Creations, from the ground up has been a whole new level of inspiration. She has poured her heart, soul, and endless hours into creating something unique. On my end, I’ve been doing my best to support her from the IT and tech side—handling the behind-the-scenes "digital plumbing" so she can focus on her vision. But even with that support, the road of a first-time entrepreneur is incredibly demanding. The other day, she said something to me that really hit home: "I feel like I need to spend every moment working on my business in order to get sales. Instead, I am burning out." It’s a feeling so many small business owners know all too well—that pressure to be "on" 24/7 just to get that first bit of momentum. I see her striving so hard every single day, and while I can fix the tech issues, I can’t build the community she needs alone. I’m reaching out to my network today to throw a bit of a "life preserver" her way. 🛟 If you have a moment, could you please visit her website? 🔗 https://jvedcreations.com/ Even if you aren't looking to buy anything today, it would mean the world to her if you could: Take a quick look at what she’s built. Head over to her "Contact Us" page and send her a short note of encouragement or any professional suggestions you might have. A little bit of validation and a few words of wisdom can go a long way when you’re in the "burnout" zone of a new venture. Julia, I am so proud of your grit and your talent. You’ve got this! ❤️ #Entrepreneurship #SmallBusiness #SupportLocal #JVEDCreations #FirstBusiness #StartUpLife #TechSupportHusband
